Puget Sound Region: The Regency Garden
Shall We Take a Turn in the Garden?
How many interesting and important scenes take place in Austen's gardens? What was a Regency garden like? We know that in Steventon, where Austen grew up, there was a pretty elm walk, wild hyacinths, primroses, anemones, lilacs, and hawthorn. Mrs. Austen grew potatoes, berries, and many other fruits and vegetables (while wearing a man's hat her daughters disparaged). Find out much more from Pierce County Master Gardener Patti McFerren at this special event, held (of course!) in a splendid garden setting.
