Mar 25

1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Private Virtual Tour of Chawton House

Chawton House v2

Formerly owned by Jane Austen’s brother, Edward Austen Knight, and well known to Jane herself, ChawtonHouse now fosters research and understanding of early women writers, restoring them to their rightful place in the history of English literature and enabling them to speak directly to—and inspire—future generations.

Kim Simpson, deputy director of Chawton House, will present a history of the house and its Austen connections; give a tour of the gardens; and share a few objects from the exhibition Quills & Characters, as well as treasures from Chawton House Library.

This live virtual event is free but limited to 100 participants and will be hosted on Chawton House’s Zoom account. The Zoom link will be emailed to participants the day before the meeting and again that morning.

Please note that the event will not be recorded.
